As the weather is beginning to change I take this opportunity to remind you to please ensure that all children have appropriate coats and footwear for the cold conditions. It is important that you put your child’s name on all pieces of clothing, particularly jumpers and coats.
In the unlikely event of a school closure due to severe weather, the Local Authority have asked me to inform parents of the procedures that schools will take.
If severe weather did force a school closure the school is required to inform Salford Council who will post a list of schools that are closed on its website. Local radio stations will also relay these closures periodically after accessing the information from the Council website. The radio stations that will carry this news are : Key 103, Capital Radio and BBC Manchester.
We will also update the school website with any information.
Obviously school closures will only occur as a last resort and when the health and safety of staff and pupils is thought to be at risk.
During icy conditions we will salt-grit paths through the playground to the school building but we cannot grit the entire area. Please take extra care when coming into school during cold, wet and icy conditions. Remind children to walk and not to play on any icy patches.
Hopefully we will have a relatively mild winter and the above precautions will not be necessary.
Thank you for your continued support.
